Amber was born in Crossville, TN, the 2nd of 3 girls to parents Roger and Gail Hyder. She was raised with strong Christian values by the most amazing parents and is a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.
After high school graduation Amber attended TN Tech with a major in Special Education. She is a 3rd generation graduate of TTU.
Amber has always loved children and wanted to work with special needs kids. She was a nanny during her freshman year of college and the mother of that wonderful family was an OBGYN. She loved spending time in her office and that is where she found a passion for nursing! Amber graduated from TTU's School of Nursing in 2000.
After graduation she moved to Knoxville, TN to work at East Tennessee Children's Hospital in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit. Amber stayed in the same unit for 17 years. Amber obtained her Master’s Degree in Nursing of Women and Children from the University of Tennessee in 2004. She is certified as both Primary and Acute Care Pediatric Nurse Practitioner and in 2005 She transitioned from Assistant Nurse Manager to Nurse Practitioner in the PICU; the same unit where she started her nursing career!
In 2016, after a difficult year including the loss of her father, Amber felt strongly that it was time to return to her family farm in Crossville. She chose to move back to help her mother and be closer to her family. She wasn’t sure what she was going to do but knew by faith that she was doing what she was supposed to and that it would work out.
And work out it did! I started dating the love of her life and married Dale Hensley in the Nashville Tennessee LDS Temple in March 2018. She has the 2 most beautiful step-daughters--Jalene is 18 years old, and Janele is 16. They live in an adorable house on the family farm and are having so much fun! Their family also includes an adorable Shih tzu, Bodi.
Amber started working December 2017 at Middle Tennessee Surgical Specialists as a Nurse Practitioner, seeing Bariatric patients for Dr. Huddleston. As a former Bariatric patient herself (She had the sleeve in 2015 by Dr Huddleston) she has a passion for her patients--wanting them to succeed just as she had.
Amber met Ammie and Dr. Huddleston her freshman year of college at TTU. Ammie has been her dearest friend and she is so grateful to be working with them! Shape and Company is a dream come true, getting to work with women’s health and being able to help people look and feel their best.
Amber’s goal is to lift others, help people feel and look their best. She wants to build others up in a world that can tear us down. She is so grateful to her Heavenly Father for placing her here at this time in her life. She is so grateful and loves looking back to see His hand in this plan for a long time. Follow your dreams. Have faith and know that it will work out!!
